a n o t h e r version

I studied 2D art at a number of universities/colleges and completed my Masters in Communication Arts recently. During completion of my Masters in Criminal Justice (earlier), I chose ethnographic projects for my master's projects. I am fascinated with ethnography as a blend of my passions for writing, sociology, and photography.

Publishings include photo in Crime, Media, and Culture (UK-photography); photo and text in Les Cashiers de la Femme, Toronto U, (Toronto, CA-); various photojournalism gigs and cover illustration in The Source Weekly, OR ); non-fiction short story for The Strange Fruit, (Seattle, WA); poetry in Bloodroot Journal.

As a painter, i work large format, abstract paintings. I create in series, taking a vision into several incarnations and visual studies. My exhibit page shows the current shows i've participated in locally. Frankly, I do not think of myself as a regional artist because I travel and have lived in so many places. I might limit my localized
investment as "predominately a Western US" artist.

As a photographer, both still imagery and video work is ongoing. I tend to record the abstract. I've been photographing since I was given my first Kodak as a kid. I still prefer SLR's and 100 ASA film, but use a digital camera since the local lab closed. It's all good...and having purchased the Nikon D700, I would have to say its not just all good, the D700 is way into fantastic.
